Why are my Telegram Ads getting clicks but no leads?
In this guide
If Telegram Ads is not producing enquiries, find the stage where people drop out first. The issue may be no delivery, the wrong audience, a gap between the ad and destination, a broken form or weak follow-up. Click count alone cannot tell you which.
Work through the funnel in order. It helps you separate technical problems from a weak campaign hypothesis—and avoid changing everything at once.
First, make sure leads are being counted
Follow the journey on a phone. Open the destination, submit an enquiry and check that it appears in your CRM, spreadsheet or manager notification. Fix a lost lead before judging ad performance.
Define what you call a lead. A subscription, bot start, button click and message about a real project are different events. Give them separate columns in your report.
Check attribution too. Some people return later or message directly. If you cannot confidently connect an enquiry to an ad, record the source as unknown rather than automatically crediting Telegram Ads.
If there are no impressions
Check ad status, available balance and campaign settings. An ad still under review is not delivering normally; an inactive ad will not resume because you edited the landing page.
If the campaign is active, look at audience availability and the auction. A very narrow placement pool may restrict volume. A higher bid may improve delivery but cannot repair an audience mismatch or guarantee an affordable result.
It is too early to judge landing-page conversion when nobody has reached it yet.
If impressions come in but few people click
Ask whether this audience understands and wants the offer. Copy can be well written and still address a problem the reader does not have.
Compare versions that make substantively different arguments: a specific customer situation against a specific outcome, for example. Swapping synonyms in the same vague message teaches you little.
There is no universal “good CTR” across all niches. Compare your own variants under similar conditions. A higher CTR is not necessarily a better ad: curiosity can bring visitors with no intent to buy.
If people click but do not enquire
Place the ad next to the first screen of the destination. Can a visitor find what the ad promised? If the ad offers a quote but the page opens with a long company history, you have added an unnecessary step.
On a website, test mobile load time, forms, terms and required fields. In a bot, find where users abandon the flow and which questions appear too early. In a channel, check the pinned introduction and the route from reading to messaging.
Do not demand information you do not need to start a conversation. A long qualification form may be appropriate for a complex service, but judge it by eventual lead quality rather than assuming friction is useful.
If enquiries are a poor fit
Separate the reasons: wrong country, insufficient budget, different need or accidental click call for different responses. “Low-quality leads” does not identify a fix.
Clarify the product terms before contact if those are the issue. Revisit placements if the audience is wrong. Tighten the copy if the promise is too broad. A channel can have real readers and still be wrong for your offer; poor fit is not proof of inflated traffic.
If leads arrive but sales do not
Look at response speed and the conversation after the enquiry. Does the person get an answer? Are the agreed next steps recorded? Is the path to purchase clear?
Ads cannot recover a lost message or create a quote nobody sends. But do not automatically blame the sales team either. Compare rejection reasons with the ad’s promise and your actual terms.
For a longer sales cycle, counting only same-day purchases will understate the outcome. Compare lead groups that have had the same amount of time to move through the funnel.
Why subscribers and enquiries are not the same result
In our massage studio case, a channel subscriber cost around €4.62 and a website contact around €4.60. Those close figures describe different stages. A subscriber still needs to enquire; a submitted contact still needs qualification and a confirmed booking.
Choose a shared downstream outcome when comparing routes—perhaps a qualified enquiry or booking. Without that, the comparison of intermediate action costs is provisional. The same applies to bots: a cheap Start does not mean a cheap customer.
When should you stop an ad with no leads?
Rule out broken tracking and allow the agreed conversion window first. Then compare spend with the test limit and look at how much data you actually have.
A fixed spend threshold says little by itself. It may buy a few expensive clicks or dozens of cheap ones. Stop rules should reflect acceptable unit economics and the number of completed observations.
If the budget runs out before there is enough data, stop and say exactly that: the hypothesis produced no result within the available test. It does not prove that the product—or Telegram Ads as a whole—cannot work.
What should you fix first?
| Symptom | First check | Next move |
|---|---|---|
| No impressions | Status, balance, available audience | Remove the delivery constraint |
| Impressions but few clicks | Fit between offer and reader | Test another audience or message |
| Clicks but no contacts | Destination and form | Fix the specific journey break |
| Wrong-fit contacts | Qualification reasons | Clarify targeting and terms |
| Qualified leads but no sales | Follow-up and decision cycle | Examine the next funnel stage |
To diagnose a campaign, gather spend, impressions, clicks, enquiries, launch dates and the landing link. Add qualification and rejection reasons from your CRM if available. Then we can work on the section of the funnel that is actually failing.
