How to launch Telegram Ads: a first-campaign checklist

In this guide

To launch Telegram Ads, prepare the channel, bot or website you plan to send people to, choose an account route that supports it, build your ads and cap the test budget. Once ads pass review, confirm that impressions are appearing and the desired actions are recorded. A first campaign is easier to judge when it has one clear goal, such as an enquiry or a channel subscription.

This guide covers Telegram’s official advertising platform. Buying a sponsored post directly from a channel owner is a different process and requires a separate agreement or marketplace.

Decide what result you need

Write down what a person should do after seeing the ad. “Learn about our company” is too vague for a first test. “Request a quote for equipment” gives you a journey you can check from click to enquiry.

A channel subscription may be an appropriate first-stage goal, but a subscriber is not yet a customer. If you need sales, decide how enquiries will be attributed and who will answer them.

DecisionExample for a photography school
Target actionBooking a trial lesson
AudiencePeople considering photography lessons
OfferA trial class with feedback on their photos
DestinationA page explaining the class with a booking form
Test limitThe amount available to test the idea

This shows the planning logic. It is not a ready-made campaign or a lead-cost forecast for every school.

Choose a Telegram Ads account route

Telegram’s self-service platform is at ads.telegram.org. You sign in with Telegram. Its public guide describes an account funded in Toncoin. Providers offer other access routes, including euro-denominated accounts paid through their own balance.

Before registering, list non-negotiables: do you need website links, which countries should you reach, who will manage ads, and what billing documents are required? Compare that list with the exact account terms. Instructions for one route may not apply to another.

Do not deposit money just because you found the lowest entry threshold. First verify that the account supports the format you need and gives you usable reporting.

Prepare the destination

People should find what the ad promised immediately. If it advertises a trial class, the first screen needs the terms and booking route. A generic page with dozens of services adds unnecessary work.

For a channel, review its description, pinned post, recent content and contact route. For a bot, go through the flow from a new account. For a website, use a phone to fill in the form and make sure the enquiry reaches the right person.

Set up attribution before launch. Websites may use UTM parameters and analytics goals; bots can store an entry parameter. Check that events can be linked to a particular ad, not just that an event exists somewhere.

Set up the first campaign

Start with a small group of placements serving similar people. Do not mix beginners, professionals and a broad general audience into one undifferentiated test: a weak result will be hard to diagnose.

In Telegram’s basic interface, you start with “Create Ad” and fill in copy, link, targeting, CPM bid and budget. CPM means cost per thousand impressions. The fields available vary by account and format; use what your own interface actually offers.

Name each ad so you can recognise the audience, offer and copy version later. “Photography beginners / trial lesson / version 1” is more useful in a report than “New ad 12”.

For an initial comparison, write two genuinely different angles. One might explain the outcome of the lesson; the other might address the fear of being inexperienced. Keep the other conditions comparable. This is a testing recommendation, not a Telegram platform requirement.

Write copy that matches the offer

Open with something a new reader can understand. Claims of “the best quality” or a “unique approach” are weak without specifics.

For a fictional school: “Learn photography from scratch. At a trial class, explore your camera settings and get feedback on your own photos.” This works only if the school really delivers that class. The ad must match the service and destination. Check the current Telegram Ads guidelines and the limits for your selected format before submission.

What should you check after review?

Approval does not guarantee that traffic has started. Check status, balance and impression data. If delivery is zero, review audience restrictions, schedule and bid one at a time.

Once people click, repeat the customer journey yourself. Does the form work? Is the source retained? Can the team see the enquiry? Fix technical faults before raising spend.

In the first report, compare spend, visits and target actions. Add lead quality for a business campaign. Cheap enquiries from people who cannot buy may cost more in the end than a campaign with a higher price per qualified lead.

Can you launch Telegram Ads yourself?

Yes, if you are ready to learn the account, prepare a useful destination and monitor the results. The harder parts are often audience selection and judging whether enquiries are worth pursuing. A small, controlled test with working analytics beats dozens of ads with no agreed success measure.
